G.R.E.E.N.H.O.U.S.E. I

(Grounding Retreat to Enliven, Energize, Naturally Heal and Overcome Undesired Stress Elements)
2007

Humans need shelter. A basic shelter provides protection from the elements and possibly wild animals. Over centuries, humans have expanded and refined their demands to homes outfitted with extravagant luxuries. Now we seem to need protection from a different type of peril: the takeover of technological gadgets, and the ever-increasing demands and fastening pace of 21st century life.

The project developed in 4 phases:

  1. A questionnaire sent to several hundred-people asking what the most prevalent forms of stress they experience.
  2. Assembly of the G.R.E.E.N.H.O.U.S.E. structure.
  3. Transplant of seedlings into the greenhouse, where they were irrigated by rainwater collected from the roof.
  4. Creation of six herbal potions, offering relief from the most common causes of stress in accordance with results gathered from the questionnaire.

Visitors were invited to turn off electronic devices, sip the infusions and to notice their calming and grounding effect.

You are invited to fill out a questionnaire at landviews.org/G.R.E.E.N.H.O.U.S.E
